Branch Secretary :

Branch meeting - Saturday 13th November 10am – 4pm

With living costs rocketing and inflation at its highest in 10 years, you would hope to see our members hard work throughout the pandemic rewarded with decent pay rises. Instead they have been met with below inflation pay offers (pay cuts!) . This is despite many employers in our branch posting huge surpluses, for example Clarion's recent whopping surplus of £165 million.

To enable us to fight for decent pay rises, the branch is keen to train our members and offer opportunities for us to learn from each other. Therefore I am glad to announce that Unite Housing Workers branch will be holding its first in-person branch meeting and training session for 18 months!

The session will run from 10-4 on Sat 13th Nov at the Unite London and Eastern offices at 33-37 Mooreland St, London, EC1V 8BB. We will be based in a large well ventilated room, breakfast, lunch and light refreshments throughout the day will be provided and we are hoping to organise a small venue to have a bit of social afterwards.

The day will involve a in-person branch meeting in the morning, followed by an afternoon training session on how to analyse our employers finances and organise an effective pay campaign, delivered by staff from Unite's research and organising departments.

Due to Covid restrictions in the building, we are only able to offer a limited number of places on the day. If you would like to book yourself a space please don't hesitate and sign up via Eventbrite here.

We are attempting to set up a Zoom link and/or live stream of the sessions for those who are unable to make it in-person. I will circulate details of this and an agenda once they have been confirmed.

We are eager to support members to get involved, so if you would like to attend but require assistance with childcare or travel expenses please get in touch
