Branch Secretary :

Our branch supporting Focus E15 Mums

The branch banner, held by Paul Kershaw and Glyn Robbins, was outside Bow County Court last Thursday (2nd Oct).  Over 200 people (including Russell Brand) were there to support the Focus E15 Mums who, along with estate residents and housing campaigners, have been occupying some flats on the Carpenter's estate in Stratford.  Newham Council wants to redevelop the estate, which overlooks the Olympic Park.  The occupation has drawn attention to the Council's disgraceful decision to leave perfectly good council housing empty while thousands of people, including the Focus E15 Mums, need permanent homes in the area.  The campaign organisers agreed to leave the occupied flats on 7th October, but resolved that this will not be the end of the campaign for housing justice on the Carpenters.
