Look Ahead staff in Brent ballot for possible strike

Branch members working for Look Ahead Care and Support in Brent are being balloted for possible strike action – papers will be sent out on Monday 10th July.

The ballot follows management’s failure to consult with Unite over a proposed restructure following a ‘TUPE transfer’. Look Ahead are proposing damaging changes to staff terms and conditions.

Employers in the sector engage in a cut throat ‘race to the bottom’ winning contracts from each other by undercutting other providers.  When staff are transferred the new provider seeks to make them pay the price on lower pay and worse conditions.  This has a damaging impact on service quality and is making the life of workers in the sector impossible.

Unite is committed to support workers who want to fight back to defend themselves and the services they provide. We also call on responsible employers and commissioners of services to talk to us about signing up to decent standards.
