
Grenfell inquirey: Johnson appointee steps down.
Call for change in inquirey
Following calls by residents and by Unite, Benitra Mehra has now resigned. It has been revealed that while president of the Women’s Engineering Society from 2015 to 2018, Ms Mehra accepted a grant of £71,000 from the Arconic Foundation, the charitable arm of Arconic. Arconic supplied the flammable ACM cladding which was fixed to the exterior of Grenfell Tower/
Unite solicitors challenged Benita Mehra to stand down and Unite said we would support a Judicial Review if she refused to do so. Unites Howard Beckett comented, the victims of Grenfell deserve justice not a cover up.
Grenfell United wellcomed the resognations saying she had done the dignified thisng but stated that the government should not have put families in this situation. They call for a change in the way the inquirey team treats survivors and the breaved.
