One Housing Group management stop safety inspections

Serious concerns

Last week we reported that, after months of needless delay, management at One Housing Group (OHG) had agreed to comply with our request for health and safety inspections. Sadly, this week we have to report that on instructions from senior management we have been informed that the planned inspections will not now take place!

Unite reps at OHG are taking up staff concerns that there appear to be serious specific risks to workers and residents. We would expect that a responsible management would be keen to work with reps to investigate and resolve any issues, but this has not been our experience at OHG.

No authority to stop inspections

We have advised senior management that they have no authority to stop our reps visiting sites to do inspections. The persistent problems suggest that there is an unacceptable approach to safety from the senior management of the organisation.

The pandemic, concerns around fire safety, concerns for safety of lone workers and plumbing issues figure amongst our members very reasonable issues.
