Catalyst attempting to ram through reorganisation

Environmental services: redundancies threatened

Union busting Housing Association, Catalyst have recently announced plans to reorganise their Environmental Services Management Team with redundancies threatened.

Environmental Services staff have accused senior management of rushing into this ill conceived plan by presenting misleading information to drive it through.

Crazy intiative

Staff effected have clearly demonstrated why this crazy initiative makes no sense. Data compiled by Catalyst themselves was used by staff to show; that customer satisfaction remains high and is rising, the Environmental Services Team have taken on extra tasks successfully over the last few years, spending has been reduced and they have actually brought costs down, they have successfully managed complaints and given excellent value for money.

This team have undergone reorganisations in the past in 2013 and 2015. On both occasions they accepted this and implemented its recommendations. Their reward is now a further reorganisation which is not in the interests of workers or tenants. This is why both tenants and workers at Catalyst have rejected this ill thought out, unworkable plan which threatens to undermine all the team’s achievements over the past few years.

Potential outsourcing

Senior management have identified the "need for change", the only thing they need to change is this disastrous plan to wreck a successful team. Staff are concerned that they are being set up to fail paving the way for potential outsourcing in the future which would be a further disaster.

Catalyst senior management have not said that the work will reduce but they are none the less proposing that it be done by fewer managers. This is typical throughout the housing sector where senior management are constantly looking for more for less.

Considering strike action

Unite stands full square behind the team who have threatened to ballot for strike action if Catalyst do not come to their senses and agree to negotiate with the workers.

We say if it ain't broke don't fix it! Don't break up a winning team! No to Reorganisation and No to Redundancies!

We have recently reported on the inflation busting pay increases for senior managers at Catalyst while staff terms and conditions are squeezed and on the group greivance staff submitted regarding the associations new draconian and potentially discriminatory sickness policy.
